Early History
Seta Soujirou was born the son of a prostitute and the owner of a very prosperous rice distribution company. In order to avoid gossip and scandal, his father's family decided to take him in and raise him. Nice of them eh? Well, not quite. Well, we don't really know what happens to his parents, but I assume they're both dead by the time he's a young boy (and he sure is a cute little kid!) Unfortunately, Soujirou's adopted family was always abusing him and forcing him to work in really horrible conditions, not to mention the fact that they physically hurt the poor boy as well. Well, one day while Soujirou was at a well trying to get some water to clean off his bruises, he heard a scream and rushed over to see what the problem was. It turns out that he happened to witness a messed up, bandaged man slicing up a couple of people, and since the man was so curious about Soujirou's perpetual smile, he decided to let the boy live if he promised to find him a place to hide and bring him some food and bandages.

The Shishio Makoto Years
The psycho bandaged killer is none other than Shishio Makoto, future leader of the Jupongatana and world class wannabe tyrant. Oh don't get me wrong, I think Shishio is wicked cool...I just hate him for messing up poor Sou-chan. Anyway, Shishio gave little Sou a small sword and told him, "The strong live, the weak die". And when Souirou's adopted family found out that he was harboring a convict/murderer, they tried to beat him up and kill him. So Soujirou had no choice but to use Shishio's sword to slice up his entire adopted family. Granted, it was no big loss to the world but imagine the poor kid's trauma! Anyway, Soujirou then asked Shishio if he would ever be strong, and the man decided to take the kid with him, promising him that he'd be stronger than everyone except Shishio himself.

As a Rurouni
Another turning point in Sou-chan's life occured when he met the rurouni Himura Kenshin, formerly known as the Hitokiri Battousai (whom Shishio affectionately refers to as his "senpai"). Kenshin was trying to stop Shishio's Kuni Tori and bid for world domination and during their final fight in Shishio's stronghold in the mountains, Kenshin managed to break through Soujirou's emotional barrier and defeated him in battle with his Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki. After a little more brainwashing from Kenshin ^_^ Soujirou decided to go off as a rurouni and start his own journey in order to find some answers for himself. And from that moment on he disappears from the RK story arc, and we don't quite know what happens to him after that. Yes, it's totally unfair, I refused to believe that it was the final time we would see our smiley little psycho friend, but I guess that's the way it goes. But it sure does lead to some food for thought, especially for avid fanfiction writers ^_~
