The Clamp Campus Detectives is an organization founded by the three members of the CLAMP School Elementary Division Student Council. Led by their Kaichou, Imonoyama Nokoru, their purpose is to help anyone in need, especially women. The detectives often go around the CLAMP campus and attempt to solve problems or mysteries, lending their assistance to anyone who may need it. This ranges from hunting down lost ferrets, looking for missing computer chips, and even tracking down ghosts haunting the art galleries.

Imonoyama Nokoru

Nokoru is the president of the Elementary Division Student Council, and he also leads the Campus Detectives. Since this shrine is dedicated to him, I've devoted a whole section just to our beloved blonde and gallant kaichou. To find out more, please go here.

Takamura Suoh

The Basics: Suoh is a fifth grade student at the top of his class in the CLAMP School, and serves as the Elementary Division Student Council secretary. He has dark blue hair, bright golden eyes, and a tanned complexion.

Suoh is the most serious of the three detectives. He is constantly prodding Nokoru to work on the enormous amounts of paperwork that the president tries to avoid. In addition to being the secretary, Suoh also serves as Nokoru's personal protector. As a descendant of a prominent ninja clan, his destiny is to dedicate his life to the protection of the "special person" whom he will meet someday. And apparently Suoh decides early on that the special someone he must protect is Imonoyama Nokoru ^_^ . Suoh often saves Nokoru from danger, even though most of the time Nokoru manages to successfully use his own brain to get out of most scrapes. However, having a skilled ninja on hand can't hurt, can it? Suoh excels in martial arts and athletics (archery and horseback riding seem to be his specialties) and he often fights with throwing knives. He also seems to enjoy Japanese literature and poetry a great deal even though it often doesn't show.

I have to admit that I like Suoh, even though he's not my most all-time favorite character in CCD. He's always calm, practical, and on top of things. What's adorable is the way he blushes when Nokoru teases him about his relationship with his "girlfriend" Nagisa, and it's nice to see that Suoh has a soft and caring side hiding behind the grim facade he loves to project. In my opinion, Suoh is a born protector, and it is he who understands Nokoru's personality and thought process the most.

Ijyuin Akira

The Basics: Akira is a fourth grade student, also at the top of his class in the CLAMP School. He serves as the Elementary Division Student Council treasurer. He has dark brown hair and silvery colored eyes (I think).

Akira is often noted for his cheerful and happy personality. He's often the most "genki" of the three detectives, and most of the time he's also extremely naive and innocent. Akira excels in mathematics, which helps him in his duties as treasurer, and he even does math with an abacus! In addition to his intelligence, Akira's also an extremely talented cook. In fact, he's so good at it that he teaches a cooking class at the university level! Nokoru loves his food and it is said that even Suoh eats Akira's deserts even though he doesn't like sweets. Though Akira's innocence often borders on extreme naivete, he's not as airheady as we sometimes think. In reality, Akira is the famous thief nickamed "20 Masks", and his mothers often ask him to steal valuable things for them. Even though he doesn't have Suoh's ninja abilities, Akira can definitely hold his own in a fight by using his quick reflexes to dodge any attacks directed at him.

Akira must be the character whom I sympathize with the most. It seems that since he transferred to the CLAMP School a while after Suoh and Nokoru met each other, he's often left out of things that happened before he met the other two. Of course, Suoh and Nokoru don't seem to do this intentionally, but it was just something I noticed during the anime. However, Akira practically worships Nokoru and thinks he's absolutely wonderful.

Ohkawa Utako

The Basics: Utako is a kindergarden student at the CLAMP School and serves as the president of the Kindergarten Division. She has short dark hair pulled back by a bow and giant purplish-blue eyes.

Though she isn't an official member of the CLAMP detectives, Utako often helps the detectives with some of their cases along with her good friend Nagisa. Although they never mention her specific talents, she does serve as the president of the Kindergarden division and organizes a lot of activities for the younger students. She's also very intelligent and many times is one of the first people to catch on to Nokoru's schemes (and she's in no way in awe of the wonderful Kaichou, and often gives him a piece of her mind). Utako is one of the daughters of a very prominent family and is Akira's "girlfriend", the two of them having met during one of Akira's escapades as the thief "20 Masks". They often meet for some tea and little midnight chats on the balcony of Utako's room.

Utako cracks me up because she's just so horribly outgoing and assertive. Poor Akira often doesn't know what hit him, and she often reminds me of a giant whirlwind. I think they match up nicely, and Utako's liveliness and wit are a wonderful contrast to Akira's innocence.

Azuya Nagisa

The Basics: Nagisa is also a kindergarden student at the CLAMP School, and she's the only major character without an executive position in the student government. However she is Utako's classmate and is often helping her friend with various things. She has long violet-colored hair usually put up in two pigtails.

Nagisa is one of the most talented students in the kindergarden divison. Supposedly her mother is a dancer and her father is a famous musician, so she herself has inherited quite a talent for playing the flute. Nagisa often doesn't say much and has a quiet, gentle personality. She first meets Suoh one day under the Wisteria trees when he's drawn to the music of her flute after archery practice. For this reason, she's often likened to a "wisteria fairy" in the anime, and it's obvious that the two of them like each other a lot. However, both are painfully shy and too timid to broach the subject, so Nokoru often has a great deal of fun trying to set them up.

I really can't say much about Nagisa because she's not the type of character I like. I admit she's cute and talented, and I would kill to have such pretty eyes like hers, but other than that she's kind of...boring. I'm not saying that I dislike her, but she's just not one of my favorites, that's all. I just love the way Nokoru is always teasing Suoh about her, and it's nice to see Suoh unsettled once in a while because most of the time he's so calm. After all, what could be a more perfect pairing than a samurai and a wisteria fairy?
