Just to let ya know, the Fushigi Yuugi characters do not belong to me. They are the creations of Yuu Watase and I am only borrowing them for a short while in order to have some fun =D Also the song for this fic is by Sydney Forest and it's called "Once in a Blue Moon" Please don't sue cuz I'm just a poor college student without much cash. Predestined
The room is empty, the lights are dim And my heart wonders if Ill sever see you again
Houki stands in the middle of the imperial throne room, her sad eyes welling with tears as she watches the emperor check his sword quickly before rushing off with a few high-ranking officials to join the rest of Konans army. After a long moment, Houkis ears pick up the sound of thundering hooves on the ground, knowing that at the head of the army rode a man with kind golden eyes, her husband and the father of her unborn child. The light wind ruffles her long hair, which is pulled into a neat braid. She looks down at her growing midsection with a quiet sigh before turning to walk back inside the palace.
My tears are hungry for an open door When your arms held me, I never felt that way before
[flashback] Hotohori holds Houkis hand as they walk through the expansive gardens surrounding Konans palace. The moonlight filters through the trees and reflects across a small pond, next to which stands a pagoda complete with a pointed roof and bright red columns. The couple stand close to each other, silently staring at the water, and Hotohori gently pulls his wife into a gentle embrace. [end flashback]
And Ill be waiting and Ill be watching under a full moon A taste of heaven only happens once in a blue moon
Houki stands with Chichiri and Tasuki, tears streaming down her face as she stares at Hotohoris handsome but lifeless form laying in the open coffin before her. Suddenly the child within her moves, as if to remind her of her duty, and she places a hand to her stomach in surprise. Stiffly she wipes the tears from her eyes and straightens, trying to stop the tears as she silently promises her husband that she will do her utmost to raise their son to be a good and just ruler.
Do you remember, the wind blew free We fit together so naturally
[flashback] Hotohori reverently enters Suzakus temple and puts his palms together in prayer, trying to dispel the disturbing sense of loss caused by Nurikos sudden death. A sound catches his attention, causing him to whip his head around just in time to catch a faint glimpse of a petite individual with long purple hair disappear from the entrance of the temple. Jumping up from his seat on the floor, Hotohori rushes after the mysterious figure.
And Ill be waiting and Ill be watching under a full moon A taste of heaven only happens once in a blue moon
Finally catching up with the person who had been spying on him, Hotohori reaches out to grab her sleeve. The mysterious woman stops and turns to kneel at his feet, hastily apologizing for disrupting him while staring nervously at the ground. Curious, Hotohori kneels down in front of the woman and tries to reassure her, when he finally gets a clear view of her features. The emperor gasps in shock, realizing that the face staring back at him was almost identical to that of Nurikos. [end flashback].
If the wind closes a door It will open another
A handsome young man in a dark suit with long brown hair sits at the head of table while in the middle of a business meeting. As the discussion ends and the others file out of the room, the man gets up from his seat and moves to stand in front of the large office windows. His bright golden eyes briefly examine the crowded night time streets of one of Hong Kongs busiest districts, but his thoughts are obviously elsewhere. He sighs and leans his forehead against the windowpanes, bombarded by vague memories he cant quite bring into focus. Suddenly he glances at his watch as if just remembering another appointment and hurries out of the office.
And Ill be waiting and Ill be watching under a full moon A taste of heaven only happens once in a blue moon
Meanwhile, in the same building, a small figure hurries through the lobby on the ground floor. She groans, realizing that she is already late, but nevertheless her pace quickens. Silently chastising herself, she absently pushes back a strand of hair that had escaped from her braid. Giving her watch a quick glance after rounding a corner, the woman gasps as she collides with another figure heading in the opposite direction.
Once in a blue moon
Looking up, the young woman steps back to hastily apologize and finds herself staring into a pair of strangely familiar eyes, the shade of which reminds her of molten gold. The mans eyes widen as he takes in the familiar features before him the purple hair, the dark eyes, the heart-shaped face Houki he whispers in shock, finding himself unable to look away from the face that had filled his dreams for so long. After a moments confusion, the woman blinked and uttered a faint, Heika? Memories from another lifetime came flooding back in an instant.
The man smiled, gently reaching out to take her small hands in his own.
Ive found you at last, he murmured softly.
