This is just a piece of silliness I wrote to a country song I like. What can I say, when prelims come around, I tend to procrastinate. Most of the lines are from the lyrics of a song by SheDaisy but I added a few lines here and there to make it seem more continuous. Hopefully this isn't too horrible...Well enjoy! Oh yeah there are a couple spoilers if you haven't seen the famous "Tanabata" episode and the end of the Shimabara episodes.

I Will, But...
At a dinner table in the middle of the Kamiya dojo kitchen, Megumi, Kaoru, and Misao are giving each other exasperated looks. Megumi rolls her eyes as she watches Sanosuke down another cup of good sake. He looks up from the alcoholic beverage long enough to give The Fox Lady a leer over the rim of the cup. Misao crosses her arms over her chest in annoyance, glaring at Aoshi who is sitting across from her. However, the former Oniwabanshu okashira doesn't notice, he's too absorbed by his meditation to even touch the food in front of him. Meanwhile, Kenshin sends Kaoru an innocent look as he cheerfully reaches across the table with his chopsticks for more puffer fish to put in his bowl. Suddenly Kenshin realizes something is wrong as he sees Kaoru's face turn a disturbing shade of red.
Kaoru [pounding her fist on the table]: I won't be bored!
Kenshin grimaces and puts his food down obediently, turning wide violet eyes in her direction. However, it's too late for appealing to Kaoru's higher emotions, and he knows it.
Misao [following Kaoru's example, leans over to poke Aoshi's chest]: I won't be ignored, Hey!
Aoshi [opening his eyes slowly]: ---
Megumi [nods in agreement with the other women before turning on Sano]: I won't be your dirty secret, I won't be your cure-all pill
Sanosuke [looking down at his fist uncertainly]: Does this mean you won't fix up my hand anymore, Fox Lady?
Megumi [ignoring Sano's words, tossing her medicine bag at him]: And I won't run to fetch the water, Just to tumble down the hill
Kaoru [grabs her shinai and waves it at Kenshin, reminding him of the money she's earned]: I won't be your Friday paycheck
Megumi [standing up and putting hands on hips, striking a seductive pose and tossing her hair]: I won't be the prize you flaunt
Sanosuke's eyes widen as he takes in Megumi's curvaceous form, and he lets out an appreciative whistle.
Kaoru: [picks up a bowl of miso soup and waves it under Kenshin's nose]: And I won't be your Martha Stewart, baby, Or your all-night restaurant
Kenshin [swirly-eyed]: Oro!
Sanosuke [muttering under his breath]: Thank god!
Misao: [pointing an emphatic finger in Aoshi's direction]: But I will, I will, I will be your everything, If you make me feel like a woman should
Aoshi [thinks to himself]: And how would I do that?
Megumi and Kaoru [joining in together with Misao]: I will, I will, I will be the whole shebang, You know I will...but
Kenshin [looking around warily, wondering if he should speak]: But what?
Megumi [smirking wickedly, fox ears appearing]: I won't be your crutch to lean on
Misao [making a thumbs up sign, drawing attention to her ninja outfit and worn out sandals]: I won't wear stiletto heels
Megumi [nodding vigorously in agreement]: I won't walk a mile in your shoes, Just so I know how it feels
Kaoru [shoving back her kimono sleeves and flexing her muscles, showing off her strength and skills]: I won't be your obligation, I won't be your Barbie doll
Kaoru, Megumi, and Misao [singing together, shaking their heads]: I won't be the portrait of perfection to adorn your wall
Kenshin: [looked dejected and a tad bit guilty]: Sessha never asked you to, Kaoru-dono.
Kaoru, Megumi, and Misao [as Kaoru glares at Kenshin for interrupting]: Hey- you know, you know I will
Misao [clapping her hands together triumphantly]: All right!
Aoshi [in an exasperated tone under his breath]: All right.
Kaoru [pulling out a shiny engagement ring]: I won't be your lifetime girlfriend
Kenshin [groaning painfully]: Not that ring business again…
Megumi [swipes the jug of sake from under Sano's nose and takes a giant gulp]: I won't be just one of the guys
Misao [shoving Megumi and Kaoru aside, winking at Aoshi]: I won't be your mama's favorite, I refuse to be the last in line
Kaoru, Megumi, Misao [swaying side to side as Megumi slings an arm over each of the other's shoulder]: Yeah, I will, I will, I will be your everything
Misao [brushing her fingers across Aoshi's cheek]: I will, I will be the whole shebang
Kaoru [stepping forward, dramatically holding her hands over her heart]: I will, I will be your everything
Sanosuke [whispers to Kenshin furiously]: You sure Jo-chan didn't have any beer to drink tonight?
Kenshin [cautiously eyeing the three women in front of them]: Oro…
Megumi and Misao [softly in the background]: I will, I will, I will, I will- yeah
Kaoru [plops back down on to her seat, elbows on table, leaning her chin on her fists]: You know I will, You know, you know I will
Megumi and Misao [also sitting down]: yeah
By this time Aoshi has managed to go back to his meditation. Sanosuke looks over at Kenshin, who has already passed out cold on the floor, either from too much puffer fish or from shock. Shaking his head, Sano steals the sake jug back from Megumi and pours another cup to fortify himself against the upcoming battle with the Meiji ladies.

***************************************************** 1. The ring that Kaoru pulls out is sort of a reference to the Tanabata episode where Kaoru mistakenly thinks that Kenshin has proposed to her, western-style. 2. Anybody remember that episode where Kenshin and the rest of the Kenshin-gumi (including Misao too I think) are at a restaurant while on their way back from Shimabara? They're all eating at this restaurant, and Kenshin continues to stuff himself full of puffer fish! My friends and I spent at least half an hour gushing over how cute Kenshin looked...so I decided to use it for this songfic. 3. The song I used for this is called "I Will...But" by a country group called SheDaisy. I had the TV turned on to CMT one morning before an eight o'clock physics section when the song came on. I'd heard it plenty of times but just as I was climbing up the darn slope to class i thought...hey this would fit the RK characters really well! So I ended up sketching this out in the middle of ILR stats class and here it is...a little piece of insanity. 4. I sort of lack talent at writing songfics so any comments would be VERY welcome =) I love constructive criticism, I really do *honest*
